COURSES AND PRICING
We offer Private (one or two student) land based and liveaboard classes. A third and/or fourth student can be added for the indicated additional cost for each class. You can schedule your class based upon boat and instructor availability. We do not attempt to match your group with others to fill a class.
ASA 101 Only – $995 per person, (minimum two students)
ASA 101 & 103 – $1,995 per person, (minimum two students)
ASA 101 and ASA 103 each consist of two eight hour (8am to 4pm) sessions conducted on consecutive days, weather permitting, on the boat; at the dock and at sea. Below are excerpts from the American Sailing Association website describing the minimum requirements for the two levels of certification encompassed in this course.
ASA 101: Learn to skipper a 20′ – 27′ sloop-rigged keelboat by day, in light to moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn basic sailing terminology, parts and functions, helm commands, basic sail trim, points of sail, buoyage, seamanship and safety including basic navigation rules to avoid collisions and hazards.
ASA 103: Learn to skipper a sloop-rigged auxiliary powered 25′-35′ keelboat by day in moderate winds and sea conditions. Learn cruising sailboat terminology, basic boat systems, auxiliary engine operation, docking procedures, intermediate sail trim, navigation rules, basic coastal navigation, anchoring, weather, safety and seamanship.
ASA 101, 103 & 104 – $3,495 per person, (minimum two students)
This course adds the ASA 104 certification to the ASA 101 & 103 course. The ASA 104 portion is a 48 hour liveaboard sail to Balandra Bay. It will start on the afternoon after you complete your ASA 101 & 103 courses and will return to La Paz two days later. ASA 104: Learn how to sail a sloop-rigged, auxiliary powered 30′-45′ sailboat during a multi-day cruise upon inland/coastal waters in moderate/heavy winds and sea conditions. Learn about provisioning, boat systems, auxiliary engines, advanced sail trim, coastal navigation, anchoring / mooring, docking, emergency operations, weather, and more.
ASA 104 (Pre-requisite: ASA 101 & 103) – $2,495 per person, (minimum two students)
This course is only available to those who have previously completed their ASA 101 and 103 training and certification.
This is a 48 hour liveaboard sail to Balandra Bay. It will start in the afternoon of day one and return two days later. See above for the ASA 104 minimum requirements.
