Captain Reese Bullen
Captain Reese Bullen – ASA Instructor
Capt. Reese began sailing at the age of 8 on the cold waters of the San Francisco Bay through a program offered by the university of California Berkeley for local children. Aboard Coronado 15’s, his summers were full of bouy racing, capsizes, leopard sharks, mud, the smell of neoprene and wind. Once exposed to the magic of bending a sail to achieve a destination, the feeling of water rushing by the graceful curve of a hull and the difference between “land time” and “water time”, he was a permanent enthusiast. Moving aboard his first boat when he was 21, he lived in marinas around the Bay Area as a diesel mechanic, boatwright, sailing educator and musician. Trips to the Channel Islands and across the pacific made concrete his reverence for the act of sailing as a pinnacle human achievement and ignited a passion for sharing, enthusiastically, his knowledge of it. He has taught children and adults alike on vessels from 10-45’, led chartered trips in the carribean, is an avid diver, canoeist and lives in a converted school bus.
Reese holds a USCG OUPV with towing endorsement, is an ASA instructor, holds certificates in welding and machining, and loves to share experiences with interested individuals.
