Captain Chris Yoho

Captain Chris Yoho – ASA Instructor

When Captain Chris was 15 years old, he discovered a love for boats while sailing off the California coast in the Channel Islands. In the beginning, he sailed small dinghies and Hobie cats including a Vagabond 14 and Hobie 16. He experienced the camaraderie of racing and some amazing sunsets sailing a San Juan 24 for 8 years with California Yacht Club. He moved on to an Erickson 32 and now loves gunkholing year-round from Canada’s Desolation sound to Tacoma WA. Captain Chris is also a very active delivery captain, delivering boats up and down both coasts from Alaska to San Diego and from New England to the Caribbean. Capt Chris’ teaching career started at Mount Baker ski area in the North Cascades teaching skiing and snowboarding, where he learned that he enjoys teaching others. He moved on to teaching sailing (and powerboating). He currently holds a 50-ton masters Coast Guard license and ASA sailing instructor certifications. Capt Chris says, “In my opinion sailing is a great way to relax. As a teenager, it was a nice escape from homework and school.”
