WITH GOBAJA SAILING YOU GET IT ALL
Seven Day LiveAboard Course – $1,995
In addition to your sailing lessons, there will be time to enjoy the desert scenery, and to fish, hike, swim and snorkle. Our destinations on the Sea of Cortez include the La Paz peninsula with Caleta Lobos and Bahía Balandra, Isla Espiritu Santo and Isla Partida with their great anchorages, Los Islotes which is at the north end of Partida and provides an opportunity to swim with the sea lions. Further to the north you’ll find Isla San Francisco and Isla San Jose.
Bahía Balandra is one of the most breathtaking bays in the world —
Consisting of numerous cresent shaped white sand beaches, mangroves, crystal clear waters and the famous “mushroom rock.” You may see dolphins or manta rays swimming over the white sand bottom. The rock formations are home to many varieties of fish of all sizes. We will visit a little cove that I like to call my “alberca” or swimming pool.Water two meters deep covers a white sand bottom. It also has a cave and a grotto of large rocks that you can snorkel around.
Bahía Candelero is a beautiful anchorage with a small island in the middle of the bay. Several of the kayak tour companies use this bay as their home port, setting out each day and returning each evening. The snorkeling is fantastic here. I often see sea turtles in this bay as well as small manta rays. Starfish and crabs also abound in its shallows. This is a great snorkeling and kayaking destination.
Ensenada Grande is undoubtedly one of the best beaches in Mexico, if not the world. It is a large bay open to the west for spectacular sunsets. The white sand beach is every kid’s dream and most adult’s for that matter. Crystal clear water with an abundance of sealife. You will fall in love with this bay.
Los Islotes is two small islands just north of Isla Partida that is home to a large colony of sea lions. Here we will snorkel and swim with the sea lions. The pups are curious just like puppies. This is the most fun you can have in a swim suit. It’ll be a highlight of your trip and draw you back to La Paz for more.
